Al Ain Hospital & Oud Al Touba Clinic

Al-Ain Hospital is a 400-bed acute care and emergency hospital with JCIA accreditation, serving the Al Ain community and its region. It is one of the key healthcare regional providers for multidisciplinary ambulatory diagnostics and treatment with more than 35 specialist departments.


Responsibilities:


⦁Assessed, diagnosed, and treated IM & Diabetic patients, with multiple comorbidities.

⦁Started the clinic 6 days per week, we added a gestational diabetes clinic every Tuesday for 4 hours in collaboration with a gynecologist to cover gestational diabetes, thyroid, and other endocrinology problems during the pregnancy.

⦁Obesity clinic established in September 2017, we added an every Sunday for 12 hours. Which was one of the most successful clinics; we referred a very good number of patients to the Bariatric clinics in Tawam and Al Ain Hospitals.

⦁Within a short time, the clinic became one of the most successful clinics with a very number of patients reaching 25 to 30 patients daily.

⦁On-call duties around 3 – 4 per month. Assessing patients referred to ER, Deciding about admission & management of the patients. Liaising with Intensivists, if the patient needs admission to ICU. Making critical decisions relating to the care of patients in ER & seeking support & advice from senior colleagues when necessary.

⦁ Responsible for In-patients admitted from ER, clinics & transferred patients.

⦁ Liaising with other subspecialties for formulating management plans for acutely ill & sick patients.

⦁ Evaluating patients referred further assessments.

⦁ Necessary workup and follow up in Endocrinology and Diabetes.

⦁ Organizing lectures, CMEs, workshops for staff & Residents posted in Internal Medicine.

⦁SEHA projects excellence Award ( Nominated ), Obesity study
Our project aimed to have comprehensive weight management program for Obese Adults, starting by focused Project with a multi-disciplinary specialist team including a minimum of a Physician trained on obesity care (Endocrinologist), trained nursing staff and dietitian at Oud Al Touba clinic. In addition, to a controlled dietary program, an obesity Treatment injection called “liraglutide 3mg” a medication used for weight loss by reducing appetite and orlistat used for a period of 6 months starting December, 2017. The Project showed improvement as an overall of BMI before and after the intervention.


⦁Diabetes: A Retrospective Study.

Clinical and Metabolic Characterization of Empagliflozin Treatment among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes ,approved in the International Forum on Quality & Safety in Healthcare congress, in Gothenburg.
