The project involved developing a smart Cane with a heart rate sensor. The project aims to take a standard cane and modify it into a smart cane that the elderly can use to monitor vitals and assist them in their daily life. That was achieved by using a sensor and an Arduino Uno to obtain real-time heart rate and oxygen level readings and presenting it on the computer screen. The sensor was placed on the handle grip of the cane, where it detects the reading from the finger through photoplethysmography with the help of the biometric sensor and biometric hub, which is then detected through the program created on the Arduino IDE software.
