• Shuweihat CMS International is an organisation which facilitates the supply of resources such as water and electricity to the UAE. Following my graduation I have had the opportunity to work and gain experience within the company as a graduate trainee and then progress to other roles such as field operator and control room engineer.
• As a graduate trainee, I had shadowed other engineers and was introduced to the format of a power plant. I observed and familiarised myself with key components within the practical field and worked accordingly with other plant personnel. During my time as trainee I would conduct reports and undertake research in understanding thermodynamics, hydraulics and the procedures and methods on how to operate machinery.

As a field operative my role had consisted of working collectively with others in a practical environment involving high tech equipment. My duties consisted of the following: Inspected and operated equipment whilst adhering to prerequisites and ensuring that functions were carried out accordingly to standard operative procedures. Examples of this can be seen with my experience in conducting routine inspection of the plant equipment and systems, reporting defect and abnormal conditions and handling emergency situations as directed by control room, alongside ensuring the efficiency of resources and those operations were in accurate flow. Reported statuses and carried out reports in different areas of the plant ranging from Gas turbine to Desalination area, alongside documenting safety measures and updating daily reports of functions.

As a Control Room Engineer, my role involved monitoring, controlling, and optimizing plant operations from the Central Control Room (CCR) to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and systems. My responsibilities included monitoring plant parameters through DCS system, responding to alarms and process deviations, and coordinating with field operators and maintenance teams to maintain continuous plant operation. I prepared and maintained operational logs, shift reports, and handover documentation to ensure effective communication between shifts. I monitored the condition and performance of equipment, identified abnormalities, conducted initial troubleshooting, and reported issues to the relevant departments for corrective action. I ensured compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures while supporting emergency response activities when required. I analyzed operational data and trends to optimize plant performance, improve efficiency, and support production targets. Additionally, I performed switching and isolation activities to place equipment in and out of service, raised work requests through maintenance management systems such as Maximo, participated in testing and commissioning activities, and supported root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability and operational excellence.
