In this role, I:

  • Lead seven-form entry Reception/FS2 team, elevating teaching standards and learning outcomes in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework
  • Manage daily operations for year group of 200 children and 17 staff, including timetabling, staff cover and crisis management.
  • Contribute to leadership team that has improved department rating from Very Good to Outstanding in all areas, in two inspections.
  • Have developed a Literacy curriculum to enhance independent writing, integrating Tales Toolkit and Oxford Owl
  • Have introduced RWI phonics programme with progress tracking tool resulting in Outstanding data results for Word Reading and Comprehension
  • Support professional development for Literacy and UtW leads, fostering skill development
  • Carry out regular formal and informal lesson observations, learning walks and book looks
  • Provide constructive feedback to teachers, encouraging growth whilst celebrating achievements

  • Introduced concept of Forest School to the setting, overseeing its development and implementation and sourcing appropriate training for staff
  • Established a website and Facebook page to ensure consistent and good quality communication and raise the local profile of the preschool
  • Developed an ICT element to the provision, offering high quality learning using tablets as recording devices and number and phonics tool
  • Rewrote setting's policies, procedures and risk assessments
