- Inspected carry on items using X-ray viewing equipment to determine whether items contained objects that warrant further investigation.
- Tested baggage for explosive material using explosive detection machines and chemicals swab system.
- Examined images of hand baggage with the help of standalone XBIS machine, as well as frisking of passenger in case of doubt.
- Check passenger tickets to ensure that were valid and to determine whether passengers have designations that require special handling such as promising photo identification.
- Searched carry on and checked baggage by hand when it was suspected to contain prohibited items such as weapons.
- Sent checked baggage through automated screening machines and set bags aside for searching and rescreening as indicated by equipment.
