CFO responsible for overall finance strategy of the digital vertical - ~$200M business - part of a global diversified conglomerate. Responsibility extends to oversight for legal and company secretarial as well as tax. Global Accountability for the strategic Financial Management & Financial Operations of the division.
• Built the finance organization and set up the control environment from scratch.
• Led regional expansion to x4 countries during a blitz scaling phase. This involved (legal entity incorporation, organization building, stabilizing operations ,risk management)

• Compressed business analysis activity cycle timelines by >60% through the first of its kind dynamic BI dashboard for consolidated regional performance review and analysis - a key single source of truth for KPIs and key figures - replacing time consuming excel based data crunching with on the go insights and analytics.
• Improved service delivery and customer order fulfillment ,+3% margin improvement and -12% indirect tax optimization through co-leading with operations and business development a 3rd party co-bottling facility in Cameroon as part of a geographical footprint expansion and RTM for greater West Africa region.
• Increased portfolio average contributive margin rate per case +6% thereby improving overall product mix upon deal conclusion,by building a business case for two M&A activities involving acquisition and divestiture of two brands and leading the pre-deal due diligence.

• Leading the Controls, Risk & Governance and Treasury operations for the region, supporting all markets across Sub Sahara region with their liquidity/credit requirements well as controls & compliance needs and executive board member for select entities in the region (Kenya, Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique, Ghana).
• Improved cash forecast accuracy +9%, by establishing and aligning tools, processes and ways of working for cash forecasting in the region which also helped instill a cash also vs. profit only mindset.
• Unlocked circa $30M in additional financing (Debt + Equity);for i.Start up of bottling plant in Kenya negotiated with 3rd parties paving way to commencement of operations ii.Recapitalization and debt to equity conversion in Kenya and Nigeria achieving balance sheet restructure,realising a liquidity reprieve for the business units which unlocked rapid investment allowing headroom for growth, as well as restoring compliance to thin cap regulations.
• Defined a risk topography for the region based on key thematic areas with severity of impact and probability of occurrence which helped the region map out, identify, monitor and mitigate existential and emerging risks. Moreover, I helped inculcate a strong control environment and high-risk awareness across the region through continuous spot audits and coordinated issue remediation efforts by affiliates as evidenced by resulting favourable internal audit reports while addressing old and legacy audit findings achieving >90% resolution and closure.

• Own end to end accountability for the entire Sub Sahara Africa region business planning and analysis including regional consolidation, budgeting and performance reporting, latest estimate and forecast origination and finalization. Key customers include SSA CEO, SSA CFO, Regional MDs and global teams.
• Managed a lean team - less than 25% normal capacity -simultaneously recruiting onboarding and coaching while at the same time delivering business - as - usual style support to the business during a reorganization exceeding all expectations - business partnering, planning, rolling forecasts, decision support - notwithstanding the skeletal resources.
• Designed, localized and institutionalized a 3 workday period end close cycle and performance reporting calendar for the region thereby ensuring strict adherence to group consolidation deadlines by regions' business units.
• Charged with the overall financial responsibility for a strategic mainstream product Route To Market project involving 3 regions (South Central Africa,East Africa & West Africa) responsible for value chain analysis,Business case development,due diligence and performance tracking.

Executive board member of the entity and accountable for the strategic financial management for all East Africa and Indian Ocean islands markets +16 countries. Key business partner to the regional managing director.

• Built from scratch the finance function at startup of operations; recruited and managed a team of six direct reports with overall responsibility for financial strategy of the business.
• Actively supported a rapidly growing business - 54% sales increase over prior year, 37% 4-year CAGR, and improved alignment to parent company's key objectives enabling to reach profitability in year 3 ahead of launch plan target of break - even in year 5.
• Exceeded all financial reporting deadlines: weekly commercial reports; monthly management accounts; quarterly forecasts; annual budgets; annual statutory accounts including tax returns and 4-year strategic plans.

• Successfully led to breakthrough resolution of a long standing Transfer Pricing dispute with the revenue authority involving multiple parties (external tax consultants,legal advisors,revenue authority personnel,tax tribunal) leading to the reversal of a >Eur10M internal non-recurring provision for risk in management books.

Business Partner to the Commercial Director with Financial Management and Decision Support accountabilities for commercial finance across all Eastern Africa markets (Kenya,Tanzania,Uganda,Rwanda,Burundi,DRC & Angola)

• Led the financial engagement with key Route to Trade partners in the region developing business plans, costing investment initiatives and their viability and tracking key financial metrics to assure pay out.
• Co-led with business development and commercial teams the scouting,due diligence and sign up of new distributors in Uganda and Tanzania expanding footprint and reach for the portfolio.
