Microbiology Unit: managing the microbiology unit,

Ø Monitoring external and internal quality control such as CAP PT, NIKAS EQC, IQC Plans.

Ø Blood Cultures using BACTEC, Bact/Alert machines, all types of Cultures.

Ø Mycology and fungal culture and identification using Lactophenol.

Ø  Antibiotics Susceptibility using API for identification, MICROSCAN and VITECK2 for bacterial identification and antibiotic susceptibility, antimicrobial resistance patterns identification.

Ø Gram stain, Z-N stain, Maintenance of organisms, wet mount examination.

Ø Detection and interpretation of T.B QUANTIFERON TEST using automated and semi-automated ELISA machines.

Ø Prepared Annual Antibiogram reflecting main microorganisms in wards and ICU with antibiotic sensitivity.

Ø Manage infection control hospital program and participating in antibiotic stewardship program.

Ø Conducting Infection control trainings including hand hygiene, PPE, biomedical waste management, management of needle stick injury, and spill management.

Hematology Unit:

Ø Interpretation of CBC, Peripheral blood film examination.

Chemistry, Special chemistry, Serology and Hormones Unit:

Ø Running huge panels of routine and special tests including antiviral antibodies, hormones and interpretation of laboratory tests in collaboration with physicians.

Ø Using a lot of machines and techniques such as ROCHE (E411, C111, Integra 400, Cobas 6000), SIEMENS (Dimension, Advia Centaur), ABOTT (Arcitect), MINIVIDAS, BECKMAN, VITROS, Beckman Access machines etc.

Ø Interpretation of Double and Triple markers using Roche and Beckman softwares.

Molecular Unit: which include detection of pathogens such as HCV, HIV, HBV, Covid19, Respiratory Panel, STDs, HPV panels, Gastrointestinal Panels, Thrombophilia, Factor II, V, MTHFR etc, using Real Time PCR, Thermocycler PCR and Microarray.
