1. Perform systematic Oral Health and Risk assessments that includes , evaluating medical and dental history and perform intra and extra oral examination.
2. Formulate a dental hygiene diagnosis based on comprehensive dental and periodontal examination - identifying caries and using BOP, Plaque index, CPITN and other indices. This includes processing and interpreting radiographs.
3. Use Hospital information systems and reports for collection of data to support the diagnosis.
4. Facilitate necessary referrals to other health care providers outside the dental hygiene scope of practice.
