Edward has over 9 years of experience in private equity, growth capital, and mergers and acquisitions across a wide range of industries within the MENA region. Currently an Associate Director with Affirma Capital, Edward co-leads the origination, execution, portfolio management, and exit of private equity investments in the MENA region with a focus on UAE, KSA and Egypt.   • Co-leading the origination, execution, portfolio management and exit of private equity investments in the MENA region with focus on UAE, KSA and Egypt.
  • Ensuring hands-on portfolio management by assisting and guiding portfolio companies with cashflow planning, WC monitoring, active cash management and extensive cost optimization procurement
  • Supporting senior partners in fundraising activities involving the preparation of marketing materials for roadshows and direct engagement with potential investors

Executed Transactions

  • Acquisition of a significant minority stake in one of the largest and fastest growing nutraceutical and pharmaceutical players and a pioneer oral dispersible film (“ODF”) manufacturer in Egypt.
  • Bolt-on acquisition of a 100% in one of Egypt's leading consumer goods companies. Co-led the sourcing and executing of the opportunity and the successful closing of the transaction.

  • Directly supporting senior management's deal sourcing activities, and pipeline development; being a point of first contact for agreeing NDAs, screening information memorandums, and analyzing financial models.
  • Leading role in analyzing and evaluating investment opportunities, in the healthcare, transportation services, and renewable energy sectors across Europe, US and North Africa with ticket size of c.USD +100-200mn. Roles include ownership and responsibility of building fully-fledged financial models/valuations, screening papers, due diligence process and offer submission.
  • Active role in the execution of transactions including the finalization of all the documentation with the legal advisors and the relevant authorities (Term Sheets, SPAs, SHAs, Subscription Documents, etc.)
  • Directly supporting senior management in the fundraising process of newly launched platforms; roles include preparing roadshow marketing material, direct contact with potential investors, review of subscription documentation, etc.
  • Primary role in the day-to-day management of the portfolio companies, roles include:
    • Analyzing the portfolio's performance on a monthly basis with constant follow up with management;
    • Preparing in-depth quarterly monitoring reports and board packs for shareholders;
    • Assisting with fair value analysis of the portfolio;
    • Preparing lender's pack including covenant calculation, distribution proposals, and compliance certificates.

Executed Transactions

  • Acquisition of a 70% stake in Egypt's most successful Montessori preschool education service provider, operating under the brand name Trillium. The investment is considered the fifth operating vehicle under Egypt Education Fund.
  • Divestment of Vortex Energy's wind assets a 49% stake in a 998 MW operational wind power portfolio managed and co-owned by EDPR, to institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
  • Acquisition of 80% stake in a prominent pharmaceutical company specialized in the production of medical IV solutions sector in Egypt. The transaction is considered the first investment forming the foundation for an Egyptian pharma platform.
  • Acquisition of 60% stake in one of Egypt's largest transportation service providers, and worked closely with the senior management to implement the firm's post-acquisition strategy.
  • Divestment of a majority stake in one of Egypt's largest water desalination companies commanding a leading market share of c.60% in its key operating market.
