Fleet Technical Support Maint Engineer

· Review resource availability (manpower/tools/equipments/spares) for planned task accomplishment for current and upcoming shift. Coordinate with other fleet technical support team and prioritise all routine and non-routine work within line. Provide technical support and guidance to the Licensed Aircraft Engineers on the line for the most appropriate course of action for defects. Ensure trouble shooting follows approved procedures and all available tools are used to ensure that fault rectification is carried out in the most expedient and cost effective manner. Obtain feedback from the engineers for technical status of their assigned aircraft.

· Maintain a technical status log and the current status of MEL ADD for their respective fleet within EIRIS to ensure clear and concise information is available about technical issues on an aircraft. Review and action all station debrief messages and MCC alerts.

· Robbery request are to be made only after thorough investigation of defect history, trouble shooting completed and spares ordered. Company procedures to be adhered to in all instances.

· Ensure all off-aircraft tasks i.e. spares handling, robberies, hold items, etc. are handled strictly in accordance with company procedures and all the relevant paperwork is actioned in a way that provides full transparency to all involved. Relevant Engineering Procedures Manuals must be followed. Ensure spares are efficiently and effectively ordered with a view to have minimum Drawn But Not Used.

· Collate and review fleet technical information from various sources including Engineering Integrated Reporting Information System, Aircraft Health Monitoring, Airman, AirTHM, manufacturer's website (Airbusworld/MyBoeingfleet) along with live aircraft status in coordination with Network Control Center, Scheduling, DNATA and MCC to plan for an on time, optimal departure from DXB maintaining minimal operational impact where unavoidable.

· Monitor, analyse and action faults using any or all real time tools including any alerts raised by ETS, TSC and/or MCC. Defect analysis based on defects recorded in the log by crew/engineers using the RIS alerting system for: Repeat defects, Repeat MELs, Repeat delays. Management and update of RDFs, issue MCR for action as required.

· Liaise closely with Manager Line Maintenance/Operations/MCC on any issues that may impact operational or safety compliance and ensure no compromises are made on safety and quality of the product maintaining highest level of OTP.

· Maintain communication with Engineering Technical Services to follow up on defect rectification, Dispatch Deviation Authorization, Engineering Work Instructions etc.

· To carry out routine aircraft maintenance/servicing tasks compliant to manufacturers & local safety procedures and maintained IAW the documentation issued by approved authorities ensuring compliance is maintained to the latest revisions. This is applicable to all Technical Publications e.g. Aircraft documentation, Technical Notices, Quality Notices, Engineering Procedures Manual etc. Staff must ensure their personal approval/licensing requirements are valid and applicable to aircraft types worked through close liaison with Quality Assurance/GCAA. Audit process and procedures to ensure the highest level of maintenance is achieved with the resources available. Ensure prompt attendance to all allocated aircraft arrival/departures with the intent to maximize the opportunities during ground time and avoid operational delays/disruptions.

· Ensure all off-aircraft tasks i.e. spares handling, robberies, hold items...etc. are handled strictly IAW Company procedures and all the relevant paperwork is actioned in a way that provides full transparency to all involved. Determine that any tooling/equipment used is serviceable and appropriate for the task and should be able to understand and use specialized tooling where required. Robbery procedures used as a method to reduce costs and ensure a right-first-time pocket of good practice is formulated to ensure costs are reduced by avoiding multiple attempts to rectify defects. Ensure trouble shooting follows laid down procedures and all tools used to ensure that fault rectification is carried out in the most expedient and cost effective manner. Ensure that effective and efficient use of ordering of spares/ materials takes place and that as a result DBNUs are reduced to zero.

· Ensure resources and manpower available is supportive of the business needs allowing targets/milestones set to be adequately met. To carry out any component changes as is necessary as part of the troubleshooting process and as directed by immediate supervisor. This will include the ability to obtain and understand AMM, IPC, or other Manufacturer/vendor documentation required to carry out the task. Ensure that available resources are utilised fully to meet the business needs.

· Ensure that all activities performed and personnel responsible for are closely monitored to ensure the best possible application of safety rules and regulations are applied ensuring full understanding and adherence to Company procedures. Staff must highlight deficiencies/ requirements (whether for aircraft or hangar use) through the effective use of reporting tools in support of the overall quality improvement process and actively participate in propagating and enhancing the Group safety culture. Participate and promote in creating a safety culture in an effort to minimize accidents and highlight deficiencies/failures that can lead to such accidents. Ensure all work locations are kept clean and excellent housekeeping conditions are maintained. To avoid FOD, will be vigilant in ensuring work areas (including the ramp), vehicles, stands, lockers and toolboxes are all kept clean. Responsible of being fully conversant with airport safety regulations including, holding and maintaining an airport driving permit. Should be fully conversant with airport manoeuvring area requirements and be able to fully comply.

· Establish effective up-down rapport with Manager, Senior Engineers and sub-ordinates to maintain a seamless flow of information to highlight/detect and address any scenarios/events that might be disruptive to the operation. Ensure all relevant reports pertaining to issues of service delays, incidents and accidents, are completed in detail identifying all elements leading up to events. This includes completion of the necessary documentation including all relevant information that will allow rectification of defects by concerned sections through short-term maintenance planning. Additional reviews of all other activities/actions must be performed to allow process improvements to be implemented as necessary.

Responsible for conducting performance reviews for staff under their direct control through the fair and just application of the Performance Matters! tool. Deficiencies or inability to meet objectives/competencies must be highlighted during interim reviews and an agreed course of action implemented to improve/correct any issues identified. Each to be effective in guiding/coaching/counseling junior staff assigned to their team, including National and Expat Trainees, ensuring action and development plans are in place to address any areas of concern. Ensure all staff allocated to him/her and themselves efficiently clock on/ clock off Job cards in the process of performing their usual duties. Must be available to assume duties and responsibilities of shift manager/senior engineer shift whenever delegated by the section manager.

  • To carry out routine aircraft/engine/component servicing/maintenance and/or approved structural repairs compliant to manufacturers procedures whilst observing all safety/standard procedures for fluid replenishment as per standard approved publications and aircraft refueling according to airworthiness requirements.
  • To complete any component replacement and other maintenance activities as directed by immediate supervisor. This will include the ability to obtain and understand and using Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts catalogue (IPC), Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) or other approved documentation required to carry out this task.   • Performing aircraft arrival and departure procedures in accordance with the standard communication requirements and hand signals between the flight deck and headset mechanic, and also the ground staff including the tug driver, wing walkers and anybody else that may be involved in the arrival/departure processes.
  • Assist Licensed Aircraft Engineers in Walk-around Checks on arrival and prior to departure as directed by the assigned engineer, in trouble shooting, defect rectifications and carrying out modifications while also performing instructions contained in job card.
  • Participate and promote in creating a safety culture in an effort to minimize accidents and highlight deficiencies/failures that can lead to such accidents. Ensure all work locations are kept clean and excellent housekeeping conditions are maintained. This includes being aware and immediately communicating safety shortfalls. To avoid FOD will be vigilant in ensuring work areas (including the ramp), vehicles, stands, lockers and that toolboxes are regularly audited, maintained and kept clean.
  • Maintain a complete and effective personal tool kit as per the procedures. This will subject to periodical, random audits by immediate supervisor or maintenance manager.
  • Should be fully conversant with airport safety regulations including holding and maintaining an airport driving permit. Should be fully conversant with airport manoeuvring area requirements and be able to comply.
  • Work closely with supervisor, through the performance review system to agree on development plans including training, strengths and weaknesses and time frames for completion. Grooming standards maintained and attendance to be maintained.
  • Ensure prompt attendance to all allocated tasks with the intent to maximize the ground time and avoid operational delays/disruptions. This will include obtaining aircraft/ component status brief from LAEs/ reports and preparing accordingly. Should be able to communicate any aircraft/ component/ structural defects found to the LAE in an expedient manner and ensure during shift handovers all required information is clearly passed to the staff taking over before leaving the said aircraft.
  • Active participation in line station internal responsibilities and assigned tasks according to the station work allocation list and organisational chart.
