  • Following redundancy and during the COVID 19 pandemic I was employed on an Ad Hoc basis face fit testing NHS hospital workers for protective masks.
  • During this time I also took the opportunity to begin an Engineering degree through the Open University.
  • In Q2 2021 Helix Well Ops UK reactivated the Seawell and I have been back onboard on a day rate contract covering a number of positions as required including: Assistant Well Ops Supervisor (AWOS), Derrickman and Senior Deck Operative.

  • Beginning my career at Well Ops as a Subsea Intervention Technician I was promoted to a supervisory role in 2016.
  • More recently I have been covering for the Subsea Intervention Coordinator as required.
  • Working on the Seawell, a Dive Support and Light Well Intervention Vessel, primarily in the North Sea, the main aspects of the position involve operation and maintenance of Light Well Intervention Pressure Control equipment and Well Abandonment equipment.
  • Working under the supervision of the Subsea Intervention Co-ordinator main duties include:.
  • Operation and maintenance of 5-1/8” & 7-1/16” Subsea Intervention Lubricator system, providing safe access to well bore for wireline tools whilst maintaining pressure integrity.
  • Carry out live well abandonment operations using the Subsea Intervention Lubricator including: Setting slick line plugs, setting E-line plugs, E-line perforation, Bull heading fluid to formation, cutting tubing, tree and tubing hanger removal and well kill, DHSV investigation and testing.
  • Responsibility for deployment and operation of intervention equipment.
  • Pressure testing of topside equipment up to 11,000 PSI.
  • 50 core umbilical testing and management.
  • Operation and maintenance of Hydraulic Power Units (HPU).
  • Perform workover and intervention on various vertical and horizontal trees.
  • Monthly routine maintenance of Subsea / topside equipment such as Wireline BOP, e-line and slickline pressure control equipment, in line with the planned maintenance system.
  • Supervision and participation in the rig up and rig down of equipment.
  • Supervise the sequence of events required in the mobilisation and hook up of company owned equipment.
  • Coordinating with ROV and diving departments during subsea operations.
  • Coordinating with Project and Engineering departments in order to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with offshore management team, onshore management team, client and third parties.
  • Operate and delegate the operation of equipment in line with company policy, procedures and requirements of Well Program.
  • Continually seek improvement of current operational procedures and equipment specification.
  • Compliance with the Well Intervention Operating Procedures (WIOP) and raising revisions as necessary.
  • Attend and contribute toward onshore and offshore risk assessments and safety initiatives.
  • Supervision and participation in drills dependant on operations.
  • Supervision and training of Intervention Technicians ensuring that competency is under constant development.
  • Completion of Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) and other relevant paperwork / documentation.
  • Participation in onshore maintenance periods including but not limited to operating overhead crane, fork lift truck and pressure testing subsea equipment Working for a number of high profile clients I am proud to always receive positive feedback for my work and also receive excellent appraisals from my supervisors.

  • Whilst working with Helix I have developed a sound knowledge of subsea operations including ROV operations and dive work.

  • Working as a Wireline Field Operator involved working with the Field and Senior Operators and learning as much as possible about wireline operations on a range of locations.
  • Duties included:.
  • Assisting in the operation of wireline tools and equipment in a manner consistent with the company and client work instructions to achieve the safe delivery of all objectives.
  • Checking and servicing tools and equipment.
  • Rig up and down of equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean work area at all locations.
  • Ensuring that company client / customer equipment had valid certification and is in good condition and safe for use prior to and during operations.
  • Active participation in the promotion of good HSE practice including risk assessment and safety tours.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with clients and other operators Prior to being made redundant I attended the Weatherford Wireline school in Fort Worth where I received training in cased and open hole wireline logging, explosive and radioactive handling / safety procedures.
  • I was also fortunate to be sent on a number of different jobs which exposed me to logging tools and seismic work.

  • Repair and maintenance of all Cased Hole Production Logging Tools.
  • Logging all tools into the company database.
  • Assisting offshore engineers when require.

  • Fire warden duties.
  • Any other duties requested by the Cased Hole FSM.
  • Achievements have included learning how to repair and maintain Cased Hole PLT tools and achieving a 100% success rate of all tools processed.
  • I gained a greater knowledge of the Wireline process, and was asked to carry out rig up servicing when other personnel have been unavailable.
