JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Emergency Medical Technician – Defibrillation (EMT-D)
  • Carry out scene surveys to access, egress and the first stage of patient assessment.
  • Carry out the Primary and Secondary Survey of patients with the view of arriving at a professional diagnosis.
  • Based upon the provision diagnosis, accurately define the transport priority of patients and formulae a priority-based treatment plan.
  • Establish and maintain an open airway using basic methods and provide adequate pulmonary ventilation.
  • Perform a high-level competence, Basic Life Support (BLS) Adult, Child and Infant.
  • Deal with partial and complete airway obstruction in the Adult, Child and Infant.
  • Control external hemorrhage.
  • Manage poisoning cases.
  • Manage multiple casualty incidents.
  • Dress and bandage wounds and other soft tissue injuries.
  • Splint/Immobilize fractures of all types.
  • Carry out emergency deliveries of babies and care of both mother and baby.
  • Treat Obstetric emergencies.
  • Treat Medical emergencies.
  • Treat Traumatic emergencies.
  • Cope with psychological stresses on the patient, relatives and EMS/Rescue personnel and oneself.
