Reporting directly to the Director of Clinical Operations, I had overall operational responsibility for the following areas: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a 28-bedded medical-surgical inpatient unit, urgent care, and multi-specialty and general pediatric outpatient clinics.

Clinical and Quality Management:

• Improved service line efficiency by streamlining processes and implementing best practices. Evaluating, updating and writing clinical practice guidelines
• Streamlined workflow processes, eliminating bottlenecks and maximizing productivity within the outpatient clinic.
• Conduct daily ward rounds to ensure high standards of patient care and safety.
• Oversee staff-to-patient ratios and clinical coordination to optimize patient care delivery.
• Manage external patient transfers, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive quality improvement.

Strategic and Operational Planning:

• Strategic goal setting for the Paediatric Service in line with the mission and values of Mubadala Health
• Monthly reporting and analysis of utilization across the service line

Leadership and Staff Development:

• Managed a diverse team of professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Conduct monthly 1:1 meetings, annual appraisals, and performance improvement plans for staff.
• Lead monthly team meetings and oversee recruitment processes to build and maintain a high-performing team.

Education and Training:

• Development of educational programs such as the Emergency Course in Urgent Care with collaboration with Clinical Resource Nurse

Strategy and Reporting:

• Set annual and monthly strategic goals aligned with Mubadala Health's mission and values.
• Prepare monthly reports and analyze utilization data across the service line.
• Contribute to marketing strategy and patient experience improvement initiatives.
• Monitor patient experience scores, including Press Ganey, and develop action plans based on analysis.

Achievements:

• Increased urgent care patient experience scores from 30% to 71% within 12 months.
• The department won Best Poster Presentation for Nurses Day 2024, recognizing excellence in nursing practices.
  

Led the pediatric service line, overseeing the care of children and young people with diabetes, and providing support to colleagues to achieve team goals.

• Developed a new pathway to improve HbA1c levels in children and young people with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, resulting in a significant improvement in care quality. Successfully completed the project within three months and won 1st place at the Mubadala Health Healthcare Quality Awards for outstanding achievement.
• Participated in health education programs, including Diabetes Awareness, and delivered seminars targeted at specific patient groups, such as those at Gems World Academy.
• Established the first Adolescent Transition Clinic at the centre, facilitating a smoother transition for young patients moving from pediatric to adult care.

Lead Nurse - Paediatric Diabetes Community Nurse (Band 7)

Managing complex cases, providing diabetes education, and handling safeguarding and social issues. Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including consultants, dietitians, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals. Proficient in the latest diabetes technologies including Dexcom and Freestyle Libre sensors, Medtronic, Omnipod and T-Slim Pumps to enhance patient care.
