Key Roles & Responsibilities – Mechanical ARE (MEP)

The Mechanical Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) is responsible for supervising and managing the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems across MEP projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth execution of project operations while maintaining adherence to design specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards.

  • Serving as Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) for Project No. N17761 – Replacement of DN 1000 mm Pipeline from Unit V to Shobaisi Pump Station(6/2023 to till date.), executed for TAQA Transmission, with responsibilities including supervision of mechanical works, coordination with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with design, quality, and safety standards.
  • Actively contributed to Project No. N18670 – New DN 1000 Pipeline at Sas Al Nakhl(6/2023 to 9/2023), executed for Transco, with a focus on overseeing mechanical works and ensuring adherence to quality standards and project specifications.
  • Successfully involved in Project No. 12192.1 – Water Transmission Scheme from Madinat Zayed to Liwa and Qusahwira( From 2022 to 2023), undertaken for the esteemed client Transco, ensuring quality compliance and smooth execution of mechanical works as per project specifications.
  • Reviewed and approved Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) along with supporting documents, ensuring compliance before installation.
  • Evaluated and commented on material submittals, ensuring alignment with contract specifications and project requirements.
  • Supervised a wide range of mechanical activities including piping works, water tank installation, pump installations, painting (internal and external surfaces of tanks), and mechanical equipment setups such as cranes and monorails.
  • Oversaw HVAC installations across all buildings and implemented drawing modifications based on site conditions for constructability.
  • Ensured proper installation of fire protection systems including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and CO₂ fire suppression systems, validating compliance with approved designs.
  • Participated in the review of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and attended FATs to verify mechanical and electrical equipment performance prior to site delivery.
  • Handled electrical site supervision, including MV/LV cable pulling, transformer (TRM) installations, lighting protection, earthing systems, and cable tray works.
  • Worked collaboratively as a MEP Engineer, coordinating both mechanical and electrical tasks, ensuring seamless interdisciplinary execution.
  • Coordinated with civil and electrical inspectors to ensure works were sequenced correctly and executed in line with contractual quality requirements.
  • Conducted site inspections as per approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and provided necessary inputs to the Resident Engineer (RE) for final work approvals.
  • Maintained accurate redline mark-ups and as-built drawings, verifying contractor submissions and issuing corrections when necessary.
  • Ensured construction works adhered to approved method statements, and provided regular site-level training to contractors on compliance.
  • Supervised commissioning activities such as filling, flushing, and disinfection of pipelines, verifying readiness for handover.
  • Collaborated with the Planning Engineer to monitor project timelines and report on construction progress.
  • Coordinated with Quantity Surveyors for the review and verification of contractor monthly invoices and progress claims.
  • Supported QA/QC Engineers by ensuring that work execution met quality benchmarks and that all activities were documented in Quality Control Records.
  • Recorded and communicated all site-related updates, technical issues, and non-compliances to the RE and PRE, ensuring proper escalation and resolution.
  • Assisted the RE in interdisciplinary coordination at site, facilitating smooth communication across all engineering disciplines.
  • Collaborated with design engineers to ensure accurate implementation of plans and specifications during construction phases.
