Robot Automation at Heriot Watt University

Collaborated with other students to build a robot that was used to scan the shelves of supermarkets to keep track of inventory available. Project Development was conducted to meet the deadlines necessary by the professor of the course. The project development process involved critical thinking during the brainstorming process, project management using Microsoft project to develop the Gantt chart to take note of the project deadlines, and Autodesk Inventor software to develop the structural design of the robot. Arduino was software used to develop C++ code to control the movement and scanning capabilities of the robot. Other skills manifested in the project development are the use of various electrical equipment such as the laser cutter and 3d printer.

Xplore Competition Participant at Heriot Watt University

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Developed an automation project that uses Programmable Logic Controller to control various outputs of an aquaponics system. Function Block Diagrams were implemented to program the various outputs to turn on/off depending on the readings given by the sensors. The sensors gave values suitable for PLC such as a 4-20 mA and a 0-10 VDC signal. The development of wiring diagrams was studied in detail to learn how the enclosure of the aquaponics system is powered throughout.
