Project Based On 8051 Microcontroller: “GSM Modem Interfacing with 8051 for SMS” Tools Used: GSM Modem, Max 232, Microcontroller 8051, Capacitors, Crystal oscillator, Liquid crystal display, Embedded C. Global System for Mobile Communications Module is basically a modem which accepts a SIM Card and works in GSM network provided by the operator just like a mobile phone. Description: The GSM Modem or module is interfaced with the microcontroller for serial communication. The IC Max 232 is used between the GSM module and the microcontroller for converting the logic levels. The microcontroller communicates with the modem by sending AT commands which are required for its activation. The 8051 controls the module to do different tasks in the network such as calling, sending and accepting messages by sending AT commands for specific operation. The LCD module is connected to the microcontroller for displaying the received message.
