As a KS4–KS5 teacher, I deliver high-quality, subject-specific instruction to students aged 14–18, preparing them for external examinations. I plan and teach well-structured lessons aligned with curriculum specifications: GCSE/IGCSE, A Level, IB Diploma Programme, and Oxford AQA, ensuring clear progression of knowledge, skills, and assessment objectives. • Be a guiding hand for my homeroom, helping them dive into all the wonderful school-wide programs and initiatives. It's about building a sense of belonging and making sure every student feels like a valued part of our school family.
• Bring lessons to life by weaving in technology, whether it's through interactive whiteboards or cool online tools. Seeing their eyes light up when a concept clicks, that's what makes it rewarding.
• Create a classroom where everyone feels safe and can thrive. This means setting clear expectations and gently guiding them, so they know what's expected and can focus on learning and growing.
• Work hand-in-hand with other teachers, because we're all a team dedicated to understanding what each student needs. Whether it's a little extra help or a new challenge, we figure it out together.
• Ensure every student feels seen and supported. I'm always looking for ways to adapt my teaching, so no matter how they learn, they can grasp the material and truly shine.

My key achievements in this role:

• I've loved organizing those field trips that aren't just fun, but genuinely connect with what we're learning. Taking students out into the world and watching them make those real-life connections to their studies – it's incredibly powerful.
• Teaming up with my colleagues to create exciting interdisciplinary units has been a highlight. It's fantastic to see students connect the dots between different subjects, realizing how everything fits together in a bigger, richer picture.

• Designed and delivered inquiry-based unit plans aligned with the IB MYP framework, incorporating key concepts, related concepts, and global contexts to foster meaningful learning.
• Assessed student learning through a range of formative and summative strategies, including quizzes, oral presentations, written assignments, and multimedia projects.
• Developed interdisciplinary units in collaboration with other departments, such as:

– English and Individuals & Societies: “Using Language to Advocate for Environmental Change”

– English and Visual Arts: “Visually Representing Stories for Different Audiences and Purposes”

• Developed teacher onboarding materials and training workshops, enhancing new teachers’ confidence in delivering MYP units.
• Contributed to a noticeable improvement in students’ confidence and proficiency in communication-based tasks, such as debates and presentations, as observed in ATL tracking data and classroom observations.

• Grow our school community significantly, successfully increasing student enrollment from 80 to approximately 250 students. It was wonderful to see so many families choose to be a part of what we were building.
• Guide our students to remarkable academic success with the Pearson Edexcel iPrimary and iLower Secondary Curriculum. We were thrilled to achieve the highest mark in all of Africa for Pearson Edexcel Primary Curriculum in English, a testament to our dedicated students and staff.
• Customize the IB MYP Curriculum to truly resonate with our school's vision and the spirit of the IB, ensuring it was both rigorous and deeply meaningful for our students.
• Lead our department to achieve the highest mark in the WORLD for Pearson Edexcel Primary Science Curriculum. This was an astonishing accomplishment that highlighted our commitment to excellence in science education.
• Nurture a passion for poetry as an English teacher, which led our students to secure first place for three consecutive years in the highly competitive Interschools Verse Speaking competition, beating out the top international schools across Kenya.

• Guided students to outstanding results in the Pearson Edexcel iPrimary and iLower Secondary curriculum, culminating in our department achieving the highest mark in Africa for Pearson Edexcel Primary Curriculum in English. This was a truly proud moment for our students and school.
• Prepared students thoroughly for their Cambridge Primary and Lower/Upper Secondary Checkpoint examinations, delivering engaging lessons based on the Cambridge curriculum.
