Joined the newly formed Asset Integrity Management team (AIM) at ZOHR gas field, I was responsible to provide expert advice to operations divisions on work programs related to cathodic protection; internal corrosion monitoring; materials selection/specification; failure analysis; paint specifications; materials preservation and other related corrosion inspection programs, and delivering of continuous improvement of integrity management systems

Duties & Responsibilities:

Material selection & Corrosion Control and Monitoring:

  • Selecting/designing chemical treatment systems, reviewing and monitoring chemical deployment and performances
  • Led corrosion team (internal corrosion control members) and reviewed their activities that ensure that injection regime for chemical treatments like corrosion inhibitors, biocides, and oxygen scavengers, is maintained during operational phase
  • Liaise with laboratory to collect and analyze sampling testing
  • Defect assessment; anomaly management; developing/updating risk-based inspection RBI programs; management of corrosion control matrices /integrity management databases

- Developed and generated Corrosion Management Program and micro plans for Upper Zakum Islands in order to implement the corrosion control plans.

- Trained 9 junior engineers in different disciplines (CP, Painting & insulation inspection, internal chemical treatment), in a short time-frame, they became competent to perform the activities related to each discipline.

- Led many failure investigations that related to asset integrity and identified the RCA, which contributed greatly to the work improvement (e.g amine foaming, sweetening unit repeated blockage, sulphuric acid skid failure, sour gas filters blockage, formic acid skid leaks, steam leaks, utility water unit enhancement, sulfur recovery pump repeated sealing failure, …etc.)
