Dear Heriot Watt University,
I am writing to express my strong interest in attending your school to study interior design.
I am confident that I can contribute a great deal to the program and create amazing projects. I have a unique background, having lived in Beijing, China for 9 years and then in Jerusalem, Israel for 10 years as my parents work in International Export Company specialized in building materials.
During my travels, I had the opportunity to spend 3 months in Bali and I fell in love with the beauty of the place. The use of natural materials, such as bamboo, coconut wood, and stone, in furniture making, not only adds to the beauty and aesthetic appeal of the pieces, but also showcases a harmonious relationship with the environment. These organic materials are not only visually pleasing, but also serve as a reminder of the importance of balance and sustainability in our lives. The intricate woodwork and sculptures further exemplify the skill and craftsmanship of the artisans who created them, making each piece truly unique and special. As humans, we all desire to feel safe and comfortable in our surroundings.
This is why I became interested in interior design - to create spaces that evoke a sense of security and beauty. Through the combination of stunning architecture and modern design, I hope to bring a sense of liveliness and vitality to the spaces where people live and work. My goal is to make people feel at ease and at home, no matter where they go. I am also inspired by Moroccan and bohemian interior design, The vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and unique handiwork of Moroccan and bohemian interior design create a sense of enchantment and warmth in a space.
Growing up in a Moroccan household, I was surrounded by beautiful carpets, paintings, and ceramics that added a touch of magic to our home. These elements have inspired me to incorporate elements of these styles into my own designs, creating spaces that are both visually stunning and deeply personal.
There is something truly special about the way these designs make us feel - like we are living in a fairytale, where our imagination can run wild, and our dreams can come to life.
My vision for interior design is to create a space where people can escape from reality and let their imagination run wild. Through the use of whimsical decor and dream-like elements, I hope to transport visitors to a magical world where anything is possible.
My goal is to not only inspire young artists to dream big and pursue their passions, but also to remind all who enter that it is never too late to chase your dreams and show the world who you are.
These are some designers that inspire me: 1) Phillip Stark is a renowned French designer known for his incredible and aesthetically pleasing work. He has a wide range of designs, including iconic spaces such as Cafe Costes, the Paramount Hotel, The Lan Club in Beijing, China, the Mondrian Bordeaux Les Carmes. His unique designs are beloved by people all over the world, and as the French say, "j'adore" or "I love" them. His work truly stands out and showcases his talent and creativity. 2) Jan Skacelik is not only a talented graphic designer, but also a skilled painter and interior designer. His work is a beautiful blend of bohemian and modern styles, radiating both comfort and beauty. I am constantly amazed by the attention to detail and the level of skill he puts into each of his pieces, making them truly unique and captivating. Whether it's through his use of color, texture, or composition, Jan Skacelik's work never fails to leave a lasting impression on me. 3) Justina Blakeny is an American designer and artist known for her vibrant use of colors and bohemian style. She is the creator of the website” Jungalow”, where she sells beautiful home decor with unique designs and bold colors. Her work is inspired by nature, and she uses a mix of patterns, textures, and plants to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in any space. Her designs have gained a large following and have been featured in numerous publications and collaborations.
Thank you for considering me for admission to your university. I am eager to have the opportunity to study and showcase my potential as an interior designer. I am confident that I have the ability to create and bring a sense of magic to people's lives through my designs. While I may not have a lot of experience yet, I am determined to learn and grow in order to make a positive impact in the world of interior design.
