- I work with my colleagues attending a variety of duty rota covering the weekends occasions, holidays or night shift and if may requires I sometime stay over night to deliver best care and service to patients.
- I start my shift checking the anesthesia machines ,monitors ,and devices making sure I have all the necessary equipments before preparing the operation theatre , I would also ensure that there are enough supplies on hands to last through the day .
- Conducting pre-operative assessments of the patient prior to their admission to the department and confirm pre-operation check list together with the ward nurse .
- Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table, covering them with sterile surgical drapes , i also assist in a circulating and scrubbing roles during the surgical stage and when performing complex procedures (arterial lines, CVP, Swan -Ganz catheter insertion ).
- Assisting the anesthesiologist with all surgical cases inside the OR (e,g ,Heart surgery, Nuro surgery ,General surgery , ENT ,etc ) as well as off site areas ( MRI ,ICU, ECT ,etc ) and demonstrate the education skills with other Anesthesia Technologists who are ACLS/ PALS certified that can teach each other about different (cardiac rhythms) , ,and shocking a patient when in a (Code Blue) emergency
- provide high standards of care and support during each phase of a patient’s perioperative care - anesthetic, surgery and recovery
- I understand hospital health and safety policy , provide with my colleagues superior and sustainable health care services to protect our patients , and we teach each other culture of safety by learning from our problems and use them to improve system .
