Advocacy: Chair of the Circular Packaging Association launched in March 2023 with support of UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).
Product packaging change: + 85% of packaging recyclable
Logistics : Addition of Electric Vehicles to logistics fleet
2-Multinational Companies Business Group (Association) Board member and sustainability working group lead and hence partnering COP28 High Levels Champion Team on CE agenda items
Manage the implementation of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan as a source of competitive advantage and reputation enhancement. Local achievements included:
1-Led launch of UAE Chapter of Unstereotype Alliance (UA) with UN Women on 9th Nov 2020 - the 6th chapter globally & first in MENA to be set up. The UA is a thought and action platform that uses the power of advertising to unstereotype how gender is viewed. The UAE Chapter currently has over 20 members companies (up from 8 at launch)
•Led MOU between Be’eah & Unilever in end-2019 for development of post-consumer resin manufacturing facility under circular economy implementation.
•Led MOU with DEWA (June 2019) allowing Unilever in UAE to be first company to have 100% renewable electricity in UAE offices and factories
• Represented industry in UAE Private Sector Advisory Council set up by the U.A.E. Federal Competitiveness Authority (FCSA) and currently member of UAE SDG Council
•Led set-up of Project CIRCLE (UAE industry packaging waste Circular Economy group) working with UAE Ministry of Climate Change & Env.
• Founding member of Jordan Circular Economy Association
Set up MENA Communications function with Central Africa countries added to responsibility between 2009 - 2012. Focus was internal employee engagement and building a single internal Unilever MENA entity (MENA regional office was set up in Jan 2008). Key achievements included:
• Developed & executed an internal Unilever MENA cost efficiency and waste reduction program to drive increased business savings . Campaign won internal highest Unilever award in 2015
• Flawless Lipton issue management in 2016 which spread globally with the approach receiving coverage in Buzzfeed and influencers on LinkedIn as a “Lesson in Rumor Management”.
•Led formation of Advertising Business Group in 2016 - currently MENA's largest Ad and Marketing self-regulatory body - with over 60 members accounting for +70% of the regions ad spends. I continue to sit on the ABG Board. https://www.abg-me.com/about-abg/
• Co-chair of GCC Food & Beverage Alliance till 2019 focused on driving responsible and sustainable nutrition in the GCC
•Regional MENA, Russia, Israel & Turkey communications functions Capability Champion for building internal team capability.
