Responsibilities:

Piping, pipeline, and welding.

  • Reviewing the approved quality plans, manuals, and scope of work, WPS, PQR to perform the required inspection.
  • Ensure that the quality requirements of the fabrication, construction, and installation activities, as detailed in the company's main contractor-approved QC procedure and plans, are implemented in accordance with the company-approved project documents.
  • NDT coordination, updating weld control documents, and weld map drawings, etc.
  • Check and evaluate nondestructive testing as required.
  • Reviews and comments on welding books, welding-related QC procedures, and NDT procedures, in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
  • Witnessing and monitoring PQR and PQR-related mechanical testing and welder qualifications processes.
  • Material receiving inspection for line pipes with onshore release note and punch list, verifying concrete weight coating condition, and monitoring coating damage repair activities as per project specifications.
  • Monitoring material handling and stacking of pipes to ensure the integrity of the coating and anodes, as per the approved procedure.
  • Ensuring pipe joint sequence for size, concrete thickness, anode, and marker joint spacing, as per the alignment sheets.
  • Monitoring subsea pipe edge preparation fit-up, welding activities, verifying start-up and lay-down head welding, and monitoring buckle detector installation and gauge indication during barge movement.
  • Preparation and inspection of welds, welding plans, weld maps, and as-built drawings.
  • Confirming the batch number of welding electrodes, welding parameters with the approved WPS, and welding operator certificates.
  • Monitors NDT planning and progress in line with project requirements (including welding rejection rate monitoring).
  • Prepared and reviewed NCRs related to welding and NDT.
  • Welding visual inspection, interpret drawings, codes, and specifications.
  • Participates in the review process of welding and NDT-related concession, deviation requests, and technical queries.
  • Monitoring the welding parameters during welding, and liaising with the contractor and subcontractor.
  • Line reinstatement acceptance, as per the latest drawing for construction, codes, and specification standards.
  • Incoming material inspection as per purchase order, project material specification, approved drawings, material inspection report, and material approval request.
  • Surveillance inspection of construction activities in accordance with approved ITP, project requirements, and report findings.
  • Witness of hydro test, leak test, and pneumatic test as per approval procedure.
  • Coordination with project management to review the progress of construction and inspection activities.
  • Prepare hydro test packages, conduct a line walkthrough with the client and subcontractors to categorize the punch listing as A, B, or C items.
  • Witness the alignment, orientation, and dimensions of installed piping as per specification.
  • Assures that all joints are exposed for examination during the pressure test, and ensures that vents are open when filling and draining lines.
  • Conform repairs, re-testing, and re-inspection in accordance with specifications.
  • Witness the flange joint assembly and bolt torque, and ensure the blinds are removed and the correct rating gaskets are installed.
  • Inspection of gaskets, supports, and valves prior to line reinstatement acceptance, as per the latest drawing for construction, codes, and specification standards. Supporting and coordinating for the dossier.
  • Welder's audits. Verification of welder qualification, WPS, and welding parameters.
  • Witness for hardness test, PMI, and ferrite percentage checking.
  • Preparation of as-built isometric drawings, visual inspection of finished weld joints, and review of the daily welding report, and offer for client approval.
  • Witness and review NDT activities and reports, and monitor NDE activities while attending repairs.
  • Reviewing PWHT charts (heating and cooling rate, soaking temperature, and time) and hardness reports.
  • Gasket verification, bolt torque tightness witnessing, high point, and low point checking. Verification of calibration certificates for pressure gauges, manifold, and relief valves, etc.
  • Providing technical information and guidance to subcontractor inspection personnel, and enabling them to be proactive in their respective areas of concern.
  • Stage-wise inspection of pressure vessels, storage tanks, cross-country pipelines, and steel structures as per ITP.
  • Inspection of pressure vessel components, i.e., plates, pipes, and piping components, fasteners, flanges, pipe fittings, strainers, demister pads, column internals, packing materials, and special parts designed as per international codes and standards, i.e. ASME Sec. II, VIII Div. I
  • Equipment receiving, storage, and preservation, pre-installation, elevation/alignment, internal installation, tray leak testing, flange joint-gasket verification, bolt tightening, and vessel closure inspection as per ITP.
  • Witness of material inspection, leveling, plumpness, peaking, and banding, roundness for tanks as per codes and company requirements.
  • Conducted periodic toolbox meetings for welders, foremen, and chargehands for welding quality awareness.
  • Prepare nonconformance reports to the SQM, and assist in developing corrective actions.
  • Ensure closure of all RFIs and related inspection/test records (ITRs) immediately after the successful completion of each inspection.
  • Immediately report any cost-affecting inspection results to the discipline leader, and also highlight them to engineering.
  • Perform daily surveillance at the site and report findings to SQM. Participate in quality walkthroughs.

  • Review and approval of quality documents, such as quality control procedures, ITP, vendor specifications, material approvals, etc.
  • Witnessing and surveillance inspection of the contractor’s surface preparation and painting activities, as per the relevant inspection points stipulated in the ITP.
  • Performing coating surveys, corrosion assessments in offshore platforms, and wellhead jackets, and recommending maintenance work.
  • Selection of coating material and advice on the right paint system suitable for the relevant offshore structures and platforms, also conducting corrosion assessments and reporting to the asset integrity team leader.
  • Material receiving inspection for line pipes with onshore release note and punch list, verifying concrete weight coating condition, and monitoring coating damage repair activities as per project specifications.
  • Monitoring material handling and stacking of pipes to ensure the integrity of the coating and anodes, as per the approved procedure.
  • Ensuring pipe joint sequence for size, concrete thickness, anode, and marker joint spacing, as per the alignment sheets.

  • Reporting non-conformities that are found during inspection, reviewing the contractor’s corrective/preventive proposals, and verifying them on site.
  • Carry out punch listing during the project completion stage, follow up, and track the work execution of the listed punch items.
  • Attending daily and weekly progress meetings with the project construction team and contractors.
  • Preparation of final handover documents and project close-out reports.
  • Check and record the weather conditions prior to blasting, paint application, and during the application at regular intervals as per ITP requirements.
  • Check blast equipment (including checking oil and water in the compressor air, if applicable) at least two times per 12-hour shift.
  • Bottle test for the evaluation of oil contamination of surface preparation abrasives.
  • Check for salt contamination after blast cleaning.
  • Visually check the surface profile and cleanliness after blasting.
  • Ensure the proper mixing and application of paints.
  • Ensure the minimum overcoat period before the application of subsequent coats.
  • Checking the WFT during paint application and ensuring the minimum required WFT.
  • Verify the DFT before overcoating, and also ensure that overcoating is done within the manufacturer’s recommended coating interval time.
  • Checking of curing and adhesion, hardness, impact, cross-cut, MEK.
  • Carry out a holiday inspection for underground and internal linings.
  • Visual inspection of the final coat to ensure there are no paint defects in the paint films.
  • Ensure the stripe coating is applied to the edges, holes, corners, welds, etc.
  • Carry out receiving inspection of hot and cold insulation materials.
  • Inspection of insulation laying and fixing.
  • Monitoring the sequence of insulation assembly.
  • Installation inspection of insulation, cladding, and fasteners.
  • Final inspection on color code and identification marking.
  • Material verification and traceability, painting/coating inspection for piping, and onshore underground pipelines.
  • Painting/Coating Procedure Qualification Test (PQT) and Blasters, Painting/Coating Applicators Qualification Test.
