Procurement vs. Repairs in Supply Chain (Technical Buyer Role)

Procurement
• Focuses on purchasing new parts, materials, and services needed for engine operations and overhauls.
• Activities include:
• Sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts.
• Issuing purchase orders for new parts.
• Ensuring timely delivery of required materials.
• Managing costs, lead times, and supplier performance.

Repairs
• Focuses on managing the repair and overhaul of unserviceable engine parts instead of buying new.
• Activities include:
• Sending unserviceable parts to approved vendors for repair.
• Reviewing repair quotations and turnaround times.
• Negotiating repair costs and conditions.
• Coordinating with engineering/quality to validate repair feasibility.
• Tracking repair cycle time and ensuring parts return on schedule

Additional Responsibility:
• Manage supplier and vendor onboarding, including adding new suppliers and reinstating existing ones in the system, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Export Control:

• Managed and cleared GTM (Goods to Market) holds, ensuring timely release of shipments while maintaining compliance with company policies and international regulations.
• Coordinated with logistics, customs, and internal teams to resolve GTM hold issues and minimize shipment delays.
• Reviewed documentation and export compliance requirements to efficiently clear GTM holds.

Strategic Procurement department (24Feb2025 - 12May2025)

• Fulfilled end-user requests in the Strategic Procurement department, ensuring timely sourcing and delivery of required materials and services.
• Coordinated with end users to understand procurement needs and implemented solutions in alignment with strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Managed end-user requests by liaising with suppliers and internal teams, supporting efficient procurement operations.
• Provided procurement support to end users, contributing to cost optimization and process efficiency within the Strategic Procurement team.

• Working as buyer for the entire Etihad Airways fleet (Airbus and Boeing).
• Sourcing, negotiating pricing and procuring components, expendables and engine parts.
• Obtain quotes from different suppliers, negotiating best prices and choosing ideal option.
• Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule.
• Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems. Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes.
• Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times.
• Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.
• Provide back-up support for supply chain functions including shipping, receiving, material handling and other duties as assigned.
• Setup & maintain material master system planning parameters (MOQ, lead time, safety stocks).

• Liaison with CAMO department for root cause analysis for failures based on OEM reports.
• Liaison with reliability department for NFF-SFR & findings to support reliability database.
• Quality evaluation & remote auditing administrative in charge for part-145 OEM repair stations.
• Negotiates warranty denials & claims by technically evaluating the unserviceable components.
• Conduct periodic RAIL meetings with Boeing & Airbus for non-performing OEM/repair stations.
• Review repair invoice & SFR’s for validations & place with relevant data for further approval.
• Conducts summit meetings with OEM to discuss product reliability Vs defect acceptance level.
• Refers CMM’s, IPC & repair modules to support shop or repair station’s technical query.
• Monitors analyze & manage safety float level Vs repair TAT in order to regain float.
• Evaluates shop findings reports (SFR), quotes for further judging the repair feasibility.
• Team Player for managing aircraft-on-ground AOG situation by catering repair return on time.
• In-charge for clearing quarantines & airworthiness certificate disputes for repair delivered units.
• In-charge for gaining lab report for aircraft fluid testing hydraulic, fuel & water from authorized Centre.

• Coordinate with OEM repair station to expedite aircraft components return on agreed SPT.
• Review maintenance/delivery schedules & inventory reports to determine priority of repair unit.
• Provide shipping and delivery information to all necessary workgroups.
• Update repair orders log pages with current status & delivery information of repair.
• Assist repair officers to obtain quotations and repair order status.
• Manage discrepancies related to order shipping, export control issues, quality quantity.
