Projects

Dissertation - Transportation Dynamics And Urban Heat Islands: Jeddah and  Doha Case Study 


The primary focus of the study is on the objectives listed below: 

  • Evaluate the spatial and temporal occurrences of UHIs concerning transportation routes.
  • Classify the primary factors influencing the interplay between UHIs and transportation, accounting both natural process and human activities.
  • Determine whether traffic congestion contributes to temperature rise in Doha and Jeddah by examining its effects on the UHI to achieve a better interpretation of the microclimatic changes associated with new development in these cities.
  • Examine Landsat imagery in detail to see how traffic volume, terrain, and Land Surface Temperature (LST) are related to generate maps illustrating the connection shared in between.
  • Explore how urban planning and design can alleviate UHI effect and recommend sustainable approaches to incorporate measures for minimizing the impact.


Highway Engineering - SMBZ Road Design  


 An alternative geometric design (horizontal and vertical) route between the  E311/D63 (Umm Suqeim Street) and E311/E66 (Dubai-Al Ain Road) interchanges  was developed. The designs were based on UK standards and involved  considering economic factors, construction practicality, buildability, and local  environmental/sustainability factors. The project components included: 

  • Foundation design
  • Pavement design
  • Brief specifications for each material used
  • Geometric design adhering to layout constraints
  • A thorough review of the design methods


Design Project - 10-Story Residential Building Design  


The objectives of the course project included: 

  • Performed load calculations, stress analysis, and optimized structural components for safety and efficiency.
  • Employed SAP2000 for thorough structural analysis and design, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Developed detailed structural drawings with AutoCAD.
  • Addressed complex design challenges by balancing cost, safety, and functionality, evaluating multiple design options, and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Applied LINPRO for linear programming and optimization, minimizing material costs and construction time while ensuring structural integrity and safety.
