  • Currently responsible for assessment and data across the whole school.
  • Provide teachers with regular CPD on effective assessment strategies and how to use data effectively in the classroom.
  • Perform routine classroom evaluations to assess teacher impact and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of whole school assessment practices.
  • Utilising internal and external assessments to monitor and improve student achievement
  • Ensuring standardised assessments are used strategically to benchmark and track student performance and progress
  • Ensuring assessment practices are timely, accurate and consistent across all departments and supporting wherever necessary.
  • Using current educational research to spearhead advances in assessment practices.
  • Ensuring whole school data is readily available and shared in a concise manner to all key stakeholders including staff, SLT, parents, governors, ADEK and ALDAR Education.
  • Led key performance standards for ADEK and the Council of International Schools (CIS) Inspections with success. In 2022, Al Bateen Academy sustained an overall rating of Very Good with many Outstanding features.
  • I line manage and oversee a variety of heads of department including English, PE, Humanities, and ICT. Regular strategic meetings enable the effective monitoring of these departments which ensures the curriculum and provision is progressive and striving to achieve the very highest standard.

  • As Head of Physical Education my responsibilities were broad and varied and included leading a team of seven individuals with the aim of instilling a culture of continual improvement underpinned by high standards and expectations.
  • I coordinated the Physical Education curriculum for all key stages, including both primary and secondary sectors.
  • Implementing a high-quality PE curriculum that was challenging, inclusive and purposeful for all learners.
  • Al Bateen Academy offers GCSE PE on the Edexcel Syllabus and Sports Exercise Health Science at IB Diploma level. The department has recorded five years of excellent academic PE grades which consistently exceed both international and UK averages. Positive value added throughout all 5 years in charge.
  • In alignment to the ADEK attainment framework the department consistently achieved outstanding outcomes for the past five years.
  • School sport is also an area which I oversaw with passion and enthusiasm. The school competes in all sports within ADISSA and has firmly established a credible, competitive reputation across Abu Dhabi
  • Ensured students were provided with extensive opportunities to participate in both recreational and competitive sport. I was constantly striving to provide students with a broad range of opportunities to inspire personal growth and to move the department forward.
  • Established effective partnerships with the local and international community.
  • Led local and international trips, volunteering opportunities, sporting masterclasses, warrior challenge experiences and established many long standing and effective sports partnerships in the community that are still present today.

  • My role at Laurence Jackson School was Key Stage 4 leader for Physical Education. I was responsible for all areas and aspects of key stage 4 Physical Education.
  • This included the extra-curricular program and successful liaison with external providers to ensure high quality opportunities.
  • I coordinated the timetable, managed student behaviour, organised staffing requirements and carefully monitored all accredited courses delivered within the department including GCSE and Level 2 BTEC PE on the Edexcel syllabus.

  • As Deputy head of Physical Education, I was responsible for the implementation, planning and monitoring of the key stage 4 curriculum. This included both core and GCSE PE.
  • As this was the first year of GCSE PE, my main focus was to deliver and imbed GCSE PE qualification with vigour and high quality.
  • Heavily involved in the planning of the KS5 Sports Exercise and health qualification which was subsequently implemented in September 2014.
  • I was responsible for making key decisions when the head of department was unavailable.
  • Pastoral responsibilities as a year 8 and 9 form tutor.

PE Teacher and Olympic Values Leader

  • My role within the school was curriculum leader of Olympic Values and teacher of Physical Education.
  • As head of Olympic Values, I led and co-ordinated a program which delivered Olympic Values (Citizenship) across the school.
  • My responsibilities within the Physical Education department consisted of the delivery of Physical Education to 11–16-year-olds across the school, including the delivery of both GCSE and BTEC accredited qualifications.
  • I was also the inclusion link teacher working closely with a large cohort of ASD students. My knowledge of SEN provision hugely improved, and I gained invaluable experience by introducing a successful Physical Education program for these students
  • The program that I initiated was recognised nationally by the Youth Sports Trust and I was privileged to showcase and share this practice at the national sports college conference.
