Shane Daly

Currently I am Head of the Humanities Department, Head of House, and a Designated Safeguarding Lead in Citizens School, a private school situated in City Walk, Dubai. In my role as Head of Humanities, I oversee the following subjects across the school, History, Geography, Moral Social and Cultural Studies as well as Global Citizenship. Last Year, Incyte a Globally recognised coaching company, chose our school to undertake the first Coaching and Mentoring programme delivered by them, in an educational setting worldwide. We were the pilot cohort. An enormous privilege and over the course of 12 months our middle leaders gained an internationally recognised coaching diploma accredited by the IAPC&M. This year, we rolled the programme out to 20 staff as part of our school's CPD and I am in the mentor in charge of guiding and coaching this cohort to receive their qualification.

My career background is that I am an experienced History Teacher covering all areas of History including recent, ancient, worldwide, European and Irish History. I was conferred with a Bachelor of Arts Major (BAM) from University College Cork. I majored in History with a minor in Archaeology. I was also conferred with a Master of Arts (MA) from University College Cork. As well as this, I graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Abu Dhabi University. I am currently enrolled in the NPQH programme with University College London, administered here in Dubai through Infinite Learning.

I am proud to have been given the opportunity to write for several local online publications as well as print media in Ireland and the United Arab Emirates. I was published in the 'Education UAE' magazine for a piece I wrote on innovation in medical history. Recently, an article I wrote on my role here at Citizens school and the unique curriculum we implement was featured as the cover story on Leading Your International School magazine, something I am greatly proud of.

Currently, I am seeking to progress further in my career and would like to interview for Head of Secondary and Head of Primary roles.
