Keyaccountabilitiesandresponsibilities

  • Experience in Chronic Illness Management,Aged Care Assessment,Medication Administration,Pain Management, Wound Care,Mobility Assistance,Infection Control,Emergency Management,Rapid Response
  • Collaborates with physicians to determine appropriate plan of care for critically ill patients.
  • Maintains patient safety, care standards and confidentiality according to both unit procedure and hospital policy.
  • Administers medications, blood products, TPN, bedside sedation and paralytics and reports reactions to medications and treatment.
  • Receives and evaluates lab values and relays appropriate physicians without fail.
  • Provides education, information and emotional support to the patient, family and caregivers.
  • Ensures that written informed consent is obtained before any treatments like medication, diagnostics and procedures are performed
  • Prepares and assists in bedside procedures such as insertion of central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, artificial airways, bronchoscopy, lumbar tap, paracentesis, thoracentesis, etc
  • Prepares patient for diagnostic procedures such as CT scan plain and contrast, MRI, EEG, EGD, Colonoscopy, 2D ECHO, ultrasound, etc
  • Conducts holistic hygienic measures for bedridden patients
  • Maintains good skin integrity by proper positioning
  • Accomplishes wound care and dressing changes
  • Observes and records pressure ulcers, surgical wounds and secretions.
  • Monitors and documents the amount, consistency and color of drains.
  • Initiates IV therapy by inserting peripheral lines and monitors for infiltration and phlebitis.
  • Inserts NGT and performs gastric lavage or starts enteral feeding.
  • Monitors blood sugar and follows insulin administration according to protocol.
  • Promotes adequate nutrition by administering enteral feeding via NGT, OGT or PEG tube.
  • Performs urinary catheterization and bladder irrigation under strict aseptic technique.
  • Withdraws blood from the arterial line for arterial blood gases and interprets results.
  • Performs invasive line site cleaning and dressing change
  • Achieves patent airways by suctioning secretions per oral, ET, or tracheostomy tubes.
  • Follows continuous cardiac and respiratory readings and initiates corrective actions before reporting adverse changes in the patient's condition.
  • Accomplishes 12 Leads ECG
  • Commences advanced cardiovascular life support during life-threatening medical emergencies.
  • Assists in cardioversion/defibrillation.
  • Performs advanced treatments such as CRRT.
