Over the last four years, as Head of PE at GEMS Wellington Academy, my main objective has been to develop the overall vision for Sport whilst supporting the aims, priorities and ethos of the school; oversee and develop appropriate pedagogy and methodology within the PE department, and ensure high standards of teaching and learning throughout.
A large part of my role within the Academy is to lead the development of appropriate syllabus, resources, schemes financial and physical resources within the department to support the teaching and learning.
I am responsible for and learning styles ensuring that all schemes of work, and teachers, cater for the needs of all students, irrespective of ability.
I undertake the performance management reviews of the PE curriculum leaders as well as selection, initiatives within PE to ensure that there is a positive climate for learning within the PE department.
Beyond this, my role includes developing the school's Extra-Curricular Sports Program to provide highly successful competitive and developmental squad opportunities, plan competitive sports fixtures and tournaments, and organise sports trips that are educational, inspirational and fun for our students to attend.

As a teacher, and latterly Head of Department at Unity College, I was employed to teach Physical Education in line with the curriculum guidelines.
This included GCSE and Vocational courses, as well as promote, coordinate and participate in sports activities throughout the school year.
I was placed in charge of introducing new technologies within PE, assessing what was available and how those technologies improve teaching and learning within the department and school.
I took responsibility for cross curricular projects aiming to improve English and Maths and was involved in identifying students under achieving in these areas.
I was the key figure for introducing new approaches to the assessment of students with the introduction of personal student booklets and the learning wall.
I also introduced schemes of work for Personal Development tutors, and used these to enhance students cognitive skills.
As well as plan and prepare lessons and ensure that learning is kept within curriculum targets, I would report on the development, progress and attainment of children including initiating meetings with parents to discuss these factors.
Alongside this I would organise PE and Sport workshops for staff and parents, and participate in the provision of co-curricular activities; including liaising with other schools and clubs to arrange fixtures.
I also managed and organised Able, Gifted and Talented events.
GCSE results A - C across the department 88%.
Personal achievement of 100% A -C from an all-boys class, including one A.
Coached the Unity College team to win the Lancashire County Cup in football, Burnley Schools Cup, Burnley League and the Burnley Football Academy Trophy.
This team was rated in the top 16 in England through these achievements, and progressed to the English Schools Cup.
Implemented a successful project aimed at the Government's target of students participating in sport for at least two hours per week.

Whilst at Priory Sports and Technology College I taught lessons for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and GCSE PE with a qualified teacher observing from November until August.
I then went on to do a placement at an all boys Grammar school for three weeks, teaching National Curriculum PE to both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
I qualified as a teacher, completing key assignments relating to course criteria and produced a portfolio covering all standards as outlined by the Government for trainee teachers.
Whilst undertaking my qualification I devised a competition to improve attendance for students and the school saw an increase of 3% in class figures.
I also created a program to enhance personal development whilst attending registration.

I was promoted within the first two months of starting at the City of Preston High School moving from a teaching assistant level one to a level two.
Whilst working in the behaviour department I was offered the opportunity to teach Maths as part of short-term cover, and due to outstanding performance, I was further promoted to a full time level three teaching assistant.
After working closely with many different departments and continuing to thrive, I was offered the opportunity to have a partial timetable in Physical Education.
Amongst other things, my role included working with students who have behaviour problems and reintegrating students after periods of absence or difficulty.
I offered one to one help for students on the Special Education Needs register and completed Individual Educational Plans (IEP).

During my time with Preston North End, I coached football in various settings such as primary and high schools as well as organised national tournaments, such as the National Rail Cup for under 13 girls.
I also organised after school clubs, promoting health and fitness in the local community, and soccer schools at different venues around the North West of England.
The role involved planning fund raising events, and we hosted a successful National Cup at Preston College with over 12 schools from around the Preston area taking part.
I began a soccer school with over 40 participants and completed Level 1 FA certificate, Level 2 FA certificate, disability coaching award, and junior football organiser's courses.
