Growing up, I've partaken in a wide range of sports activities; from football, to gymnastics, to swimming. Having such a commitment to these activities has given me a passion for fitness. During my early school years, I joined a private gymnastics club for a total of 11 years. Throughout that time, I competed in several competitions, placing in first or second each time; I was also involved in the school gymnastics team. Football was another sport I did during my time in school; I played competitively against other schools in my city, placing in the top 3 teams at every tournament. While I was at university, I joined the cheerleading team. Being heavily involved in this sport allowed me to join the committee to help a team of 35 athletes prepare for upcoming competitions. Additionally, we supported the basketball team during home and away games.
During my time in school, I completed the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold award. The Gold award required all participants to trek 80 kilometers over the course of 5 days, through sugar cane fields, farmland, and residential areas, while carrying a rucksack that held our necessities. We also took part in social service (e.g. renovating a nursery) for 10 days. The school provided us with a map and compass, in which we had to find the bearings of each checkpoint. I took the responsibility to stay extra hours after school to finish the work needed before our journey to Mauritius. Doing so allowed my group and I to successfully complete the trek.
