Look after patients with special needs especially the autistic, epileptic , cerebral palsy, down syndrome and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)

Take care of patients with tracheostomy and peg tubes, diabetic and hypertensive patients

Fully integrate with the rehabilitation team such as the speech, occupational therapists, psychologists, neuro and psychiatric doctors

Making, arranging and communicating patients appointments and escort them to the hospitals

collecting the patient's medications from the different hospital pharmacies

Take care of adequate nutrition and perform early mobilisation as well as training of self care functions

Training and teaching care givers on how well to handle the patients inclusive of the behavior, hygiene, meals, doctor's recommendations and day to day tasks

Take, record and monitor the patients as most of the patients are unable to verbally communicate.

Maintain and establish proper working policies at the centre

Training and guiding new medical staff

Taking medical history and symptoms for the patients

Taking, monitoring, reporting and recording of patient vitals

Providing first aid and wound care

Health educating patients and relatives about the patient's condition and needs

Providing basic bedside care

Maintaining inventory

I worked as a volunteer triage nurse at the hospital as i was awaiting for both a job opportunity and my final examination results and below were some of my roles

Taking, recording, monitoring and communicating vital signs

Performing assessments on incoming patients to evaluate their symptoms so they can be triaged appropriately

Answering and reporting emergency calls

Give first aid, CPR, and other medical care as needed

Perform wound care

Report cases of abuse or neglect to the senior supervisors

Manage and communicate with patients and relatives in the waiting areas

Transport/escort patients to the appropriate treatment areas for example for the laboratory, radiography rooms, theatre or to the wards
