  • · Lead a team of 7 full time and one part time English teacher of a department that ran three curricula: IGCSE, IB DP and ISC
  • · Led the transition from single certificate ICSE exam to a double certificate compulsory offering in IGCSE—English as First Language (0500) & English Literature (0475). In 2019 with 103 students the results were 71% for A*-B in First Language (0500) [world average: 43.1% for A*-B] and 78% for A*-B in English Literature [world average: 71.8% for A*-B]
  • · In 2020, after a gap analysis, introduced additional winter programme with enhanced results of 75% for A*-B in First Language (0500) [world average: 50.1% for A*-B] and 83% for A*-B in English Literature [world average: 74% for A*-B].
  • · In 7 years of departmental leadership the IB English Literature average scores ranged between 5 to 7 in HL (approx. 4-5 students per batch) and an average grade of 5.1 to 6 in SL (varying between 20-35 students per batch). No Extended essay in English since 2014 received below a Grade B. [Max. achievable grade in IB :7]
  • · Implemented the introduction of the Language and Literature course in IB in 2019. The team achieved an average of 6.5 in HL and 5.5 in SL. The results have improved to an average of Grade 6 in SL in 2020 (class of 33 students).
  • · Sustained the ISC performance of the Department (offered to approx. 45-60 students per cohort) between 87.8% to 92.9%.
  • Pedagogic Interventions
  • · Formulated and implemented strategies of raising achievement across the three boards such as visible thinking routines and active learning methodology using integrated AFLs, amongst others.
  • · Initiated and influenced the reading programme of the School with the inception of the Reading Awards and through continued involvement in the Scholar’s Blazer reading interviews.
  • · Introduced an augmented Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum with an additional literature component designed and developed to cater to the curricular requirements of all the 3 Boards at the School.
  • · Implemented a unique scheme of work that integrates Project Zero Thinking Routines, IGCSE Active Learning and IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATTL).
  • · Facilitated meta-cognitive thinking in middle school by introducing ToK thinking routines and research-based assignment in middle school. In 2018, this led to the initiation of the Writing Centre for Grades 7 -9 as part of the reading curriculum of the school.
  • · Pioneered and led by example a full department transition to the Moodle and then the Google classroom to extend and facilitate processes of differentiation by input and inclusion, parallel to the regular classroom.
  • · Guided and designed the English Department’s IB 5-year review exercise in 2015. Ensured a collegial and collaborative bottom-up, rather than top-down reflection and review process. Meticulously recorded the review process for the IB DP coordinator.

  • · As Master-in-Charge of the Senior English Debating Society since 2008, I nurtured debating talent amongst students, as well as coaching and adjudicating abilities amongst colleagues.
  • · Created opportunities for international participation and trained students to win accolades at prestigious international platforms such as International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition (IISPSC), World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Competition (WIDPSC), World Schools Debating Championships, and Indian Schools Debating Society.
  • · At school level, enabled a culture shift in public speaking and debating at multiple levels: by incorporating cutting edge formats, by facilitating training by graduates from the Delhi Law School and National Law University, Bangalore, and by liaising with capacity building organizations such as the WSDA Slovenia, as well as the ISDS for student training workshops.
  • · Ensured that the activities of the Debating Society continued unabated despite a year-long lockdown, accommodating students from across time zones for regular practice and participation in tournaments.
